Ex North Eastern Fire Brigade, initially based at King Street Aberdeen and then transferred to the retained station at Fochabers. One of at least 6 F8's from NEFB still on the go.

Nice machine, pity about the oversized name board covering the lockers.

My thoughts exactly! The Transport Museum also used to Look after one of Grampian's old Dennis TL's but I heard they took it back as it wasn't being looked after properly some years back, I can't confirm that though.

Thanks for the history, Andy.

Andy LSA9 a Dennis TL (preserved) is kept in the second bay at retained station 86 Alford. I presume its still there?

Added by Grant Melville on 12 September 2010.
Grant, yes as far as I know Grampian still keep it there, that is the one that was pulled back from the transport Museum.

Thanks for posting this Fazer9553, I have never seen this in preservation before.
Andy, I have a list of 8 F8s I believe were with the North Eastern Area Fire Brigade:

HSA 590 *
JSA 67 *
JSA 68 *
KSA 363 *
KSA 364
KAV 339 *
MAV 722 *
NAV 575 *

I have marked with an asterix those which I think are preserved, can you or anyone else confirm this or add any recent information please?

Added by Chris Wood on 12 September 2010.
Chris, I don't know about JSA67 or NAV575 but I know KSA364 is alive and well and owned by the Earl of Strathmore. It was initially equiped with an Escape Ladder but the photos I've seen do not show it carrying one anymore.

I've seen a photo of KSA 364 from Strathmore Estate.
Was silver the original running colour?

Added by Fazer9553 on 13 September 2010.
I thought there were only three F8's with escapes the States of Jersey one and two for Inverness which would have been Northern Area Fire Brigade not North Eastern Area Fire Brigade ! can anyone confirm this please ?

I think it must have been I remember as a kid the newer dennis's and the Ford after that were silver. Saying that there was probably a mix, I think JSA68 was red, the ET's and TL's were red too.

According to Graeme Kirkwoods Site KSA 364 was a Pump Escape , if you look at picture 17552 it shows JSA68 & HSA333 both without escapes so I'd imagine KSA 364 replaced GGN782 the Escape carrier

Thanks Andy for your info on KSA 364 which I also have recorded as a pump escape.
NAV 575 was owned by an FSPG member in the mid 90s and I believe it was at Emergency Truckfest, Ingleston in 2001.
JSA 67 was owned by a farmer near Forfar in the late 1990s according to information in Fire Cover magazine.
Regarding other F8 PEs, I have FST 513 at Stornaway and FST 514 at Kirkwall - both 1952 and in the Northern Area Fire Brigade. J13983 (later CSV 468) is the Jersey example and I also have references to a couple of Northern Ireland examples.

JSA 68 is alive and well preserved doing the rounds in the north of England, It was stationed st Portsoy where my Dad drove it and has had the pleasure a few years ago to see the fully restored version, , mint

KAV 339 was last heard of on the Fylde. It ran out I think Lerwick with a 45 ft ladder but was restored as a pump intially with a 30ft HO ladderand following a swap with a 35 ft Ajax.

Interesting to hear that KAV 339 is still in existence. I did a search on this vehicle after finding a picture of it from the early seventies.
My father was an engineer working for Highlands fire brigade in Inverness and took this particular engine home to show his sons.
I can upload the picture to the site if anybody wants to see it.

Yes please Dougie, I'd love to see a picture of this lovely old Dennis F8 in its original form.Nice to see it in preservation, but way over the top with that sign board-looks terrible.

KAV339 has surfaced and is for sale on a well known website at the moment. Needs some work though!

Hi all I now own KAV339 and although it is still in remarkable condition intend to carry out a major overhaul in the near future. I would appreciate any help I can get with workshop manuals etc. Kind regards.
