Looks like NWF&RS will downgrading the number of ALP's from 4 to 3 following a meeting this morning. I assume that this means that they will not replace J21 PJC. Perhaps, they will transfer either Rhyl's or Llandudno's ALP to Wrexham to ensure even cover across North Wales. I am right in thinking the other ALP is based at Bangor?

Yes the other ALP is at Bangor.

Wrexhams ALP was shown at WalesFire 92 when new and was the first ALP in Wales. J21PJC hopefully will be replaced by a cascaded ALP, its strategic importance being that it cover the area once covered by 2 HPs by Clwyd and also into Cheshire when Chesters ALP off the run/engaged in other incidents.

Wrexham never had an aerial appliance untill 1974 when JUN 104, AEC Regal/Merryweather/Merryweather 100' TL arrived from Colwyn Bay as they had just been allocated ERF 84RS/Jennings/Simon SS70 HP OUN543M. Denbighshire & Montgomeryshire had an agreement with the City of Chester Fire Service for use of their AEC Mercury GM4R/Merryweather 100' TL 3624 FM when the necessity arose. Historically the aerials were based at Bangor, Colwyn Bay and Rhyl. Deeside ONLY had an aerial in 1967 when GXN 211 arrived from Rhyl and Llandudno only had an aerial in 1984 when Dodge G16/Carmichael/Magirus DL30u A914KJC was allocated there. Soon after, Colwyn Bay was downgraded from Wholetime to Day-Manned and their ERF HP was reallocated to Deeside and KDM860K was allocated to Rhyl to replace ERF 84RS/HCB-Angus/Simon SS85 HP NDM563E.

Ironically we did end up with quite a concentration of aerials in the area in the 80s, as you will be aware Andy. With Aerials based at Wrexham, Deeside, Ellesmere Port and Chester plus the Simonitor at Flint. Any pics or info on my new toy Andy? (D884UCC) it would be apperciated in its restoration.

Allocated to Caernarfon in 1986 replacing Dodge G8685/Carmichael PL AEY533W which was reallocated to Aberdyfi replacing Ford D0600/Carmichael MEY308J. Reallocated to Abersoch in 1992 replacing Ford D1114/Carmichael JEY311P when Mercedes-Benz 1120F/Carmichael H762MCC arrived at Caernarfon.
