P272 EON is a Dennis Rapier Rescue Pump is operated by Midland Fire & Rescue Service (a private 'event cover' service), the appliance was recently owned by West Midlands F&RS
Yelp, Barrie does actually say P272EON is a Rapier and is probably the Rapier standing alongside P276EON which is indeed a Sabre as the title to the picture eludes (apart from the typo, with the 6 transformed to a 9).
Anyway what does it matter, everyone knows that it is a Sabre, and a very smart looking one too!
West Mids only ever had one Rapier and that was on a K reg. They bought Sabres from the beginning right through to the end. It is confusing to be honest, you have three different registrations mentioned in the picture, description and text. The Rapier next to the Sabre has just been made to look like a West Mids machine. God only knows why people do this.
My apologies gentlemen.....it was a couple of typos, the photos were uploaded after driving to the event......spending all day there......and driving back to Cheshire in a 1949 Dennis F7 PE the roar of the B80 petrol engine hasnt left my head yet !!!!! and I am 65 shortly thats my excuse anyway !!!!
If West Mids only ever operated one Rapier, then this machine is now here in Dublin with Dublin Fire Brigade. It is based in Skerries Fire Station, one of two retained stations in Dublin
The only Rapier to serve with the West Midlands Fire Service was from 1982, and was registered K978XOF.It was purchased for evaluation at that time and then was allocated to the only retained station in the West Midlands at Sedgley.
I must apologise for being so eager to correct your error, Barrie. I should really grow up a bit too! Note to self: GROW UP A BIT!
Anyway, it's a great photo by the way - cracking pump, the Sabre (two Sabres, I do believe), and a glimpse of an awesome airplane. I know it's not fire-related, Marcels, but what airplane is it, Barrie? Is it a Nimrod?
For information, Sabre P275EON is now with Dublin Airport Fire Service.

Sorry to be pedantic as I may be, but I am pretty sure it is a Handley Page Victor XM715, judging by the wing position. Not my favourite V bomber, the Vulcan is the best to me, noisy but perfect. Have to agree with Andy about daubing Cheshire appliances, it defeats the object of consipcuity too. Would love to drive Cheshires heritage fleet though, respect where its due Barry.
You are perfectly and pedantically correct Gary, of course its a Victor...the Nimrod was parked nearby together with a Comet 4C and the Guppy. Must visit specsavers !!! Cheshire are not the only service applying safety messages to appliances, as for driving the F7.....it was hard hot work (good that the windscreen opens) but I will wear ear defenders next time I do a long distance trip. Only 5 miles tomorrow with the open F1 hope its fine !
Dear gents, the truck on the left is Sabre! Its a ex west Midlands truck which was based at Bilston fire station , it was purchased 2 weeks before this event at Bruntty. All west Midlands logos have been replaced with Midland fire and rescue services from Uttoxeter
