Very impressive looking fire engine. I especially like how well designed it is. ie. Wide steps to get in, no more than 2 steps. Naroow and designed to carry alot. Some fire engines I see what looks like a ladder just for the firemen to get into the vehicle.
Yes it is beautiful! Just a note to say that the Dennis factory at Guildford are holding an open day on September 11th. I wonder if there might news that the Sabre is coming back....
I hope so Barry. Nearly photographed all the Sabres in the UK and Ireland with one exception. VX54MVY at Gloucester. I missed this one by a day as I was in West Mids on the friday and on Saturday it met with a RTC on the A38 in the city. I'm under the impression that it may return later in the year.
Thanks Barry, it all sounds quite exciting. The centenary celebrations held all those years ago must count as one of the highlight events in any fire enthusiasts top ten. Would be great to see similar such occasions in the future.
I can only agree. The Dennis centenary celebrations in 1995 (especially at Wroughton) were just magnificent. A Youtube video shows a flavour of what it was like. Just search for 'Dennis Rapier Wroughton'.
