Fire Engines Photos

Although seen here at Chester fire station this was new to Cheshire County Fire Brigade. Chester's Dennis F28 was very similar.

1818 FM I believe. Does anyone know what happened to the Chester F8 VFM 777? I photographed it inside Wellington Fire Station in July 1988

Hi Andy, I don't have VFM 777 on my list but I do have VFM 77. Could it be the same machine?
'Fire Cover' from Summer 1987 says that it is a Fire service National Museum appliance being restored by Shropshire. I'm sorry don't know what has happened in the following 23 years.

981 DMA was allocated to Runcorn fire station in 1961 replacing a wartime Bedford QL WrT GYR 738. 981 DMA ran alongside Commer QX/Jennings WrT NMB 630 untill 1973 when Dennis F49/Dennis WrL PMA209L arrived. Dennis F38/Dennis WrT TTU 63D replaced Commer QX/Jennings NMB 630.

Hi Petros:

I remember seeing an F 24 demonstrator at Darlington fire station which was quite unusual.

One side was painted red with hinged doors and slam lockers exactly like this example.

But the other side was unpainted aluminium, with a bi-fold door and roller shutters!

It also had both bells and a siren.

Does anyone know what eventually happened to this oddball appliance?
