If i may correct u on that 1 it is acually 3 different aged volvo's! the one closest to the pic is built on an Excalubar chassis, the one in the middle is on a Saxon chassis, and the one at the front is on an updated Saxon chassis.
none of them are any longer at the stations they were at when this pic was taken for the one closest is now at Woodbridge, the middle is at Sudbury and the Rescue tender furthest away is now at Normanshurst!

Just wanted to point out that Excalibur and Saxon have nothing to do with the appliances' chassis, as suggested in the comment above. The chassis is obviously Volvo, and the aforementioned companies are responsible for body-building.

Also, is the appliance in the background really a Rescue Tender? Surely it's a Wrl/RP etc.?

Peter Eliis U R correct it is still a WRL (Water Rescue Ladder), is still has a pump and all the kit of a normal appliance, but also carries specialist Holmatro Cutting gear for RTC's! It has RESCUE rather than FIRE written on the front of the appliance aswell.! Suffolk currently has 4 of these appliances but are due to make a new order in 2008!

In reference to the first comment, are you sure that the nearest to the pic is built by excaliber? To me it looks like it was built by Fulton & Wylie judging by the crewcab.

Alex, the two furthest away are Saxon Sanbec, and the closest one is Fulton & Wylie.

Yes Alex i know it does seem like fulton and wylie but i can assure you this is an Excaliber chassis. We had 1 at Sudbury and i am positive mate!!

I now have a picture of one of the types of appliances closest in this picture in my own album. If u either go to my name on the contributors section or straight to picture 10449, you will see that this appliance closest in this picture is Excalibur as i said and not Fulton & Wylie.

(These Excaliburs are heading for scrap in late 2008 from the Suffolk fire and rescue because the cab's are so poorly built that they are actually falling apart!)
