Drumnadrochit Fire Station Highlands & Islands

Located on the main A82 road some 15 miles South west of Inverness. In the not too distant past this then volunteer unit operated a Ford Escort Ultra Light appliance. Since then the station been allocated a Bedford CF LFA, a LDV LFA, a Mitubishi MWrT and currently runs a MAN WrL. The unit was upgraded to the retained duty system in 2004

Do they respond to many calls a year , I respond to upto 400 a year with my station .
If not so many , I take my hat to the guys to keep the interest going

It may interest you to know that in the Spanish region of Catalonia the fire protection legislation requires every community of more than 5,000 population to have an on call fire station. I recently looked at an annual report to see how busy these were. To my surprise, the least busy station was only called out on six occasions last year!
