Very nice Andy,a lot "butcher" than most TRV's too! Did they replace the 2nd pumps on these stations? Bet those monitors come in handy on grass fires too. Do you know anything about Flints openday?

Fire Appliances cant be replaced by a TRV these are used for small fires ad in those remote areas where a fire appliance cant get to the incident.

D9 Dudley is still have 2 sabres on this station and will be replaced by a new appliances when it enters service which will be not for sometime yet.

I know they're Yorkshire registered, but this was doubtless because Angloco registered them.
As I understood the situation, they were a cancelled order for Oban Airport.

Rg, UK number plates give-away the vehicle's age with the numbers that they display.

This appliance is a 57 plate; the '7' tells us it was built in 2007.

New UK vehicles can be registered in spring or autumn - in March or in September. The '5' tells us that this particular appliance was registered in September 2007 - the five referring to the autumn registration period. Had it been registered in March, the five would have been replaced with a zero.

So these light fire appliances are not as old as you probably thought they were! But if you ask me, they do look old.

I had heard that one of the RAF appliances had already been 'rolled' and this has delayed - yet again- entry into service at the airfields. RAF Woodvale already has one on site but not yet in service as the Scania is still there..

What happened to these? Am I right in thinking their spell with WMFS was pretty short?

One is at Aldridge. The yard seems to be a dumping ground for old kit. There's a few R & S reg Sabres in there and there was three aerials in the yard. One has just gone to Dublin and the Water Tower to Malta. The other Bremech has been sold on.

Bremachs have been disposed of by many agencies which bought them, because of stability problems, even on road as well as off. They have a narrow track, short wheelbase, narrow wheels and tyres and a high center of gravity - all of which are contributing factors.

If they want a stable, bulletproof and long-lasting off road appliance, which can go just about anywhere, the answer is a Unimog. But bring your checkbook - it costs about twice as much as a Bremach, and you can still kill yourself in it if you really don't know how to drive off road!

They can be a bit tricky on roundabouts, too - especially if you have 4, 000 liters of water on the back....
