The support unit was a uniquely Belgian concept, capable of carrying a full crew and a wide array of miscellaneous equipment, but no pump or water tank.
One such unit normally was assigned to each fire station, which would typically also have two or three pumps, a ladder, a tanker and a rescue unit.
