...and this is Chełmża fire station, whose 'parent' State Fire Service unit is SFS HQ of the city of Toruń (ger. Thorn). According to its tactical number, this is the 'first away' appliance of the unit.

The Schmitz Varios usually have a 750l water tank and a high pressure only pump (100 lpm). Unlike the vast majority of Polish fire engines, they have no foam tank, the concentrate is usually transported in two 20-litre canisters.

Schmitz made a name for itself in Poland in the late 80. and early 90. with its superb specialist vehicles (water rescue, hazmat, etc.). But the Varios like the one above as well as MAN CAFS pumpers have a terrible opinion. At one of the units, they got rid of the Vario after 4 years, as it was literally falling apart.
