I wonder why North Wales appliances have Preston Regn numbers rather then local ie CX CY CW ones?

Has been replaced by PN05EFV ex Porthmadoc but new to Wrexham. Porthmadoc now run Volvo FLL PO61BWW.

They are registered by Thomas Hardie Commercials before delivery. They use Preston to register.

I'm sure all the V reg's are now the spare fleet.. However not sure if the appliances which are w x y reg are spares too??
