AEC Regent/Merryweather South Shields.
Rear view of the former South Shields AEC Regent CU5705 seen at Preston Park somewhat unusually without it's wheeled escape.Unfortunately I didn't make any notes of the date, but it may have been 2006. This is the only time since I first saw this fine machine in 1983, that I've seen it at an event without it's escape.

The water tank is above the suction. The "filler Cap" is the tank overflow.
The Ladder had been shipped, and stored in the arena for a display of victorian firefighting, where escape ladders were kept in the street for use.

Hi, is there any asbestos used on these fire engines? Am sure when I went to the fire station open day, there was a merryweather fire engine. At the back of it had some kind of fiberous material.?

And a different place for stowing Hard Suction Hoses - BTW, is that the Water Tank above them - I can see a sort of Filling Cap, on the left side?
Definitely an impressive rig.
