Langensbold has a population of 13, 000 and is protected by 70 volunteer firefighters. Their fleet includes two pumpers, a rescue pumper, a 23/12 meter aerial ladder tower, a 5, 000 liter 4X4 water tender, a hazmat unit, a lighting truck, two staff cars, two command units, two personnel squad vans, and of course this 4X4 hose layer.

They occupy a very modern and superbly equipped fire station with excellent amenities.

A recent video of one of these units revealed that - in at least one German volunteer fire company - the SW 2000 had no fewer than three 1000 LPM portable pumps on board. While one of these is usually deployed at the water source, the other two can be positioned around 660 metres apart to boost pressure sufficiently to move the water all two kilometers if necessary, even if an uphill relay is called for. Most German hose layers are on this Unimog chassis, as it has unrivaled off road capability and in rural areas hose relays may not be feasible using only paved roads.
