Commer Karrier SDM 826
The photograph showing SDM 826 at Castle Works Flint in 1976. The commer WRT SDM 826 was purchased new in 1959 by Flintshire Fire Service with her sister appliance SDM 827. She served at the fire station in Earl Street Flint and In 1960 she moved to the new station on Chester road Flint see picture No 21807 SDM 827 served at Prestatyn then Holywell. SDM 826 was replaced in 1974 by the Dennis Pump Simonitor. SDM 826 was then sold to Courtaulds Castle works Flint to replace Morris Commercial Pump CDM 185 see photo No 21750

Excellent photo Herbie. Can still see Bunny Owen, Peter Knorton, Jeff Ellis, Pete Brookin et al riding her.

Its not a Commer. Its a Karrier Gamecock. Both from the Rootes Group and more or less badge engineered, although typically the Commers were slightly heavier and used a longer wheelbase. They were marketed as Commer or Karriers (not Commer Karrier) This ones most definitely a Karrier.
