This appliance was from 1980 and was one of 48 CFE/Shelvoke+Drewry DPL's the LFB put into use during the late 1970's/early 1980's.Looks like C24 on side of appliance,if so that would have been Whitechapel's pump escape.

Jacques - what a great shot - view of the fire-truck on the "wrong" side of the road; and the Driver on the "wrong" side of the Escape Ladder cab - to show us all from "Left-Hand Drive" countries!

Frank,I cannot be certain of what this appliance is,or from what station.The add-on to this picture has been transferred from another picture I passed a comment on.It really shouldn't have been added to this picture.Pete.

The appliance number was C21 and license plate GYW622W

The picture 18879 and picture 18922 quoted above in picture, show the same Shelvoke Pump Escape, as photo'd by our young French student, in 1983. The captions state "C21, Shoreditch, and near London Monument"
I am just green with envy at Jacques getting a ride, in a now-classic fire-engine; and just awed that he has photographed so much, for posterity and for us to enjoy today....

Jacques, just got a reply where the location is: "City Road at the junction of Epworth Street EC1, heading South !" Also he said look at Google street view to compare (thanks Tim Bone!)
