Image of Singapore fire fighters at work

Scania 94G 310 Aerial Platform Registered No. XB7030Y in operation at a Saturday morning open house at the Central Fire Station in Singapore. NOTE the building in background is the original Central Fire Station built in 1908, you can see the large opening where the hose was raised aloft for drying and the spiral cast iron stair case at right where the firemen performed duty as fire look-outs atop the tower. Many of the modern fleet are now too large to house in the old station and are accomodated immediately right of photo in spacious engine room.

Nice photo Pavel. The logo SKR at the CLP mudflaps indicates that its bodywork is built by SK Fire, Singapore. At this time the fireman possibly conduct the morning inspection of equipments and appliances.

The CLP is from 2001 an it's a Bronto F32HDT. After the 8 am roll call equipment is checked and nowadays drills are done on the weekend too.
The old central station was built in 1908 but operational in 1909. It was enlarged two more times. Where now the new appliances bays are, used to be the fireman living quarters. In this picture on the right from the hose/watch tower is the back entrance to the Heritage Gallery (the fire museum)

Frank, only just noticed your comment, sorry mate. I am uncertain what Rota 1 is? Am off on 21 day cruise of Asia next week and if the lady of the house lets me loose, is there anything in Singas' you want me to photograph?

G'day Pavel,

Rota 1 is the same as shift/watch 1.Thanks for asking but I'm pretty well updated with the SCDF, the newer machines (mostly PL's and ambulances) I will snap later this year. Enjoy your cruise, if you need any assistance in finding stations let me know.

Best wishes,
Frank
