We had this on the run at Prestatyn during the hot summer of 1989 whilst NEY 286 R was in workshops for a new pto.

She was a spare in East Division too,NEY286R was bad news for us when I was at Mold, we blew the engine at Rhydymwyn when she was a spare. We had the last tow from the Bedford RL Wrecker 376ALC.

These appliances were fitted with Jaguar 4.2 petrol engines and the engines never lasted until the first oil change was due. Worst appliance Wrexham ever had.

The new MAN "All Wales Pump" doesn't exactly stand out for its reliability either! Especially when they don't seem to be able to string three weeks together in service. The Rolls Royce was a better petrol engine. Hampshire ended up fitting Perkins Diesel to the Jags they had. Wrexham could always break their toys though! See picture of the Shelvoke, Dennis RS RDM361V was known as the "boomarang" by the fitters due to the metalwork they bolted onto the NS rear locker runner after someone was rough with her.

I thought it was only the Dennis "D" series that had the Jaguar 4.2 petrol engine as an option. Surely this is an "F" series and would of had a Rolls or Perkins engine.
