Maple Bluff Car #1 pulling Water #3

Maple Bluff Car 1 is a command/utility vehicle that was purchased with community donations. It gives the Department the ability to pull Water 3, and transport firefighters to and from training exercises. Water 3 was acquired from the Dane County Sheriff's Department Marine and Trial Enforcement Bureau. Water 3 is a 22 foot, 2004 Edgewater with a 225hp outboard motor that primarily responds to emergencies on Lake Mendona in Dane County, WI, but will respond to other lakes or watershed areas upon request. Maple Bluff Water 3 is also available for inter-divisional responses through Dane County MABAS Division 115.

Hi Kris;

Great shot of an able-looking boat.

Your Pic and text are being read by folks all over the world, on this 'Site - with different practices, and even, English words, for the same item - but pretty interested in others' Fire Equipment. So, I will jump in; hope I don't insult you....and add a bit more info, for them...

WI is State of Wisconsin, middle and northern USA; borders on 2 of the freshwater Great Lakes. Also, the home of the well-known "Oshkosh" Fire-Truck.

Maple Bluff is located inland from Milwaukee which is located on the Lake Michigan; and is not too far from the Mississippi River... it is a long river.

You must be a Volunteer, or, maybe "Composite" Fire Dept; Lake Mendota must freeze up in winter, so your boat would be replaced by an Ice Rescue Team.

MABAS must be an acronym for a "Mutual Aid" organization, to assist other Fire Departments/Agencies - you have a large number of fresh-water lakes, in your area of Wisconsin, to cover.

My area has a number of cable-ferries; so, I have looked at your free ferry between Okee and Merrimac, on the Wisconsin River, with some interest.

BTW Some readers here have a history of Organized Fire Services, that first started over 2,000 years ago....yup, with the Roman Legions....so it is a very interesting 'Site.

Hope to see more Contri's from you. Good stuff.

From New Brunswick, Canada (next to Maine),
Regards,
Pat_R-B
