Nice photo Jeff, I saw one engine in flames on tv many years ago,looked like a international.You have very big forest fires in Australia and i like your people because are accustomed to fires.

The Red Z on the number plate indicates a vehicle registered to the Federal Government in Canberra. At the time emergency and police vehicle number plates started with a Red Z. Which kind of gave it away when an unmarked police car came up behind you on the road.

Really impressive shot of the dangers of your Wild-fires.

BTW Could this Tanker have sucked in glowing embers through her Engine Air Intake, thus 'snuffing' the engine out ?

An immediate re-start is not possible, because the smoldering embers are robbing the engine of it's oxygen ....

I ask, because our more recent equipment is equipped with a kind of flap-valve, to help prevent this happening, apparently....

"MISSING LINK FOUND"...Ok, excuse my excitement. This fire happened about 2 km from my place when I was a kid, and I heard about this incident when I joined the Hall Bushfire Brigade when in high school. The pump and pump motor were salvaged and recycled by the Hall Volunteer Bushfire Brigade to create the ACTs first Quickfill Trailer- am posting pics tonight.
