Bedford Tk Fire Engines 1998
My photo of AFX 594T and HOR 853E at Wimborne Fire Station open day the Dorset Bedford Tk was stationed here then later purchased by Flight Refueling as a works applaince.My first Beford Tk
was in service with Hampshire Fire Service and was stationed at Fawley now Hardley it was a 750g Foam Tanker appliance.

The l/h Bedford would of been bodied by Hampshire Fire Brigades own workshops. Many were produced for their brigade by them. (But obviously not on the same scale as HCB) they are unique and very well built.

Similar bodywork using the Bedford cowl, screen and doors are also to be found in several export markets, with local bodies. Examples include Ireland, Belgium, Australia and New Zealand - among many others.
I like the idea that brigades used to build their own appliances, and it was apparently quite common years ago. They did get exactly what they wanted this way, and feedback from the users was pretty instantaneous!

Bedford
The HCB Angus has a full width cowl extension and an entirely coachbuilt body with a custom windshield.
The earlier unit has the standard cowl, windscreen and front doors as supplied by Bedford, with a rather clumsy B pillar to blend into the full width rear door and bodywork, and a roof which is also custom built to blend the original cab line with the bodywork.
This was probably less expensive and equally practical, but does not quite manage to look as professional...
