UDL 233 Bedford Pump Escape

Here is a recent photo of Bedford Pump Escape UDL 233 at a yard on the Isle of Wight where it's for sale.Built by HCB-Angus in 1959,it served West Cowes from 1960 to 1975.It went to quite a few rallies in the 90's, and apparently is still a runner.It has a 60' Merryweather wheeled escape and a Dennis no.2 pump

The escape ladder appears to be Merryweather all metal construction. We had one in Cardiff many moons ago.

If this was a WTE with a full 400 gallon tank the lighter steel escape would have helped keep the total weight within the chassis' design limits.
