WPD 239G Dennis F44 ex Surrey Fire Brigade

Picture shows ex Surrey Fire Brigade Dennis F44 WPD 239G (as previously featured in picture 4308) whilst in subsequent service with the Kent and East Sussex Preserved Steam Railway.
An interesting anecdote is that it was collected directly from Cranleigh Fire Station but was actually out on a shout when Colin arrived to pick it up!
It is seen carrying it the original experimental 45FT aluminium ladder - Believed to be what was known affectionately as the Merryweather "Gutbuster" - (any info gratefully received).
This appliance was requisitioned by Kent Fire Brigade several times for incidents when they were short of pumps in the local area.
Actively taking part in some pump drill competitions it even traveled as far a field as Glasgow and never missed a beat.
It stayed in service with the Railway until about 1988 (at times working alongside Colins F8) when it was sadly burnt out at a standing corn fire, when it failed to re-start after suffering a petrol vapour lock (further pictures of this machine to be uploaded).
