There were 2 Ford D series in service with the corps, this one built by Hawson Garner and the other unit built by CFE they were identical and were fitted with 5 .2 litre turbo charged diesel engines and 6 speed manual gearboxes.
They carried a crew of 6 and ther were 6 BA sets, 80 plastic and 20 polythene salvage sheets,
10 roof covers and 4 ton of corrigated metal sheets inside aswell as assorted manual and power tools which included 2 generators 2 fans
2 submersible pumps, a portable pump, 2 wet vacs and a set of oxycetalin cutting gear.
both were sold to private buyers at thier retirement from the corps.

These were probably on the 1014 chassis, which was a standard commercial model, although it was also used extensively as a basis for water tenders as well as a lot of various specials. When the more powerful Perkins V8 engine was offered in the fire service special 1317 chassis, it became much more popular, as it had the same power unit as the custom Dennis and ERF chassis at that time. But for many buyers - including LSC - the less expensive 1014 got the job done.
