another 4x4 Cambridge appliance was the water carrier. It has sparge pipes at the front bumper to protect it in running field fires. Cambridge is surrounded by huge arable farms and the climate is very dry for England so field fires are a risk. see picture 6898. Bedford M refers to the 4x4 spec designed for the military lorry - hence M. Taken 1975.
