Bomberos Voluntarios de Ensenada (Argentina) Volvo

This Volvo fire truck was acquired in early 2009 by Volunteer Fire Department of Ensenada. Shortly after I take this photo on May 5th, 2009, the steering wheel was changed to he left side of the cabin.

Looks like 'Alpha Two' from 'Teesside Central' is back in action!

This looks like one of the Volvo's which was used in the tv series Steel River Blues in the UK. Nice to see it being put back into service

Very interesting. An ex London Volvo that was used in the filming of Steel River Blues. Painted in fictitious 'Teesside' livery by Pudding Lane then passed on to Wessex Fire & Rescue I believe.

This was one of two Fl6s (H874/5XYF)painted up for the 2003 TV series 'Steel River Blues'. This programme was supposedly set in Teesside, (but much of it was actually filmed near Leeds)
The series was a sort of Northern 'Londons Burning'. The fictional brigade was (I think) called Teesside Fire and Rescue)
Two of these Volvos were painted using a livery very closely based on the current Cleveland Fire Brigade livery complete with a white front.
To a Teessider like myself, the programme was laughable, with a character who with a Yorkshire accent was being discribed as a Geordie.
To me, the programme's only redeeming feature was that it showed how the Volvo FL6 might have looked if Cleveland had purchased them instead of Dennis'. Nonetheless, these Volvos looked very attractive in their pseudo Teesside livery and I am pleased to see one has survived.

Do you know . . . I thought I'd seen this appliance somewhere before! You know how it is when you just can't quite put your finger on it?

Thanks to all those that added the clinching Steel River Blues info.

And you're right, Chris - the programme was awful. The bit I particularly disliked was the suppsedly 'spooky' fierefighter with supernatural powers. Ah yes, we all know one of them at the station, don't we!

I believe there is a white-fronted Volvo with the Cleveland brigade though. I think it's a EPU or similar. Cleveland's not all Dennises! And, sadly, with the demise of Dennis, never will be again.

Both vehicles were owned by The Pudding Lane Fire Company and hired to Yorkshire tv for "Steel River Blues". I was for my sin's one of the fire brigade adviser on the show and looked after them for five months. After the show Pudding Lane keep H875XYF for filming job's in the north. I bought H874XYF from Pudding Lane for preservation in the south of England.I keep the vehicle a few years it was fast to drive but used a lot of fuel in doing so. I had the chance to buy the London's Burning volvo from Pudding Lane and H874XYF had to go, it strange to see her in Argentina.

Hi Dave, so you have H373BTP and Pudding Lane kept P771NLF? I find these appliances quite interesting as they're the London Volvos that never were! Do you know anything more about the P-reg? Was it an extra one that Saxon bodied whilst building the P***RHV batch for London and did they re-body your one at the same time. Also are they both full London spec....300 gallon tank, 750gpm godiva pump etc.
I'm sure I saw them re-united recently on the TV drama Collision.

Kyle.

I think your right about the p-reg it is the full London spec i believe that London was going to take it back after filming. The H-reg has things missing like gauges,a dummy foam system and no locker lights. They both have 300 gallon tanks and 750 gallon pumps. It wasn't them on Collision the other volvo was Bell & Two Tones R-reg, they have been re-united on a Clint Eastwood film called "Here After"only two weeks ago.Sad that "Steel river Blues" truck has gone to argentina but gald i got the H-reg cheers Dave

H874/5XYF became R129UHV and S984JWN (in reverse order) in the show - I watched them filming and consequently I appeared (very briefly!) in the background in episode 3 in a scene shot near the Captain Cook pub near the Transporter Bridge (during which I got good shots of the 2 Volvos) - also got good shots of H875XYF at Albert Park (Middlesbrough) with a camera rig bolted to the front
