Chad: would this truck be more in the line of grass-fires and brush-fires ?

The Water Tank can't be that big; the Booster Reel and the stowage for shovels, brooms, "flappers" & etc in back, would indicate that.

Pat, a lot of Georgia fire departments use this style of truck as a tanker. It uses @ a 300gpm gas engine portable pump to load and unload the tank. The water tanks are usually 1000 gallons. The tankers I've seen also have a booster reel of 200' 1", and 200' of 1-1/2", and sometimes a 2000gal portable pond.

To add some to Mr. Lampp's reply. This is a classic rig we affectionately called a "Fireknocker". These apparatus were built by the Georgia State Forestry Commision at their shop in Macon, GA. The deal was, if your FD supplied the chassis, GA. Forestry would add the tank/pump/etc. IIRC they were only 1000 gal tanks, but to a lot of us whose 1st in pumper only had 500 gal.s on it, that was considered a tanker. Most had a 12" dump valve on the rear and a folding tank on the other side in this photo. For some rural, backwoods Fire Dept.s, it was all they had. It brought them from an ISO class 10 (no fire protection at all) to an ISO class 9. I had one at a volunteer station back in '82-'89 in Paulding Co. GA.
