West Sussex M reg Dennis Rapiers
As the 4 1994 M reg West Sussex Dennis Rapiers were withdrawn from service at the end of September 2009, i thought it would be nice to see a picture of them when new. Seen at Tangmere Workshops yard on August 14th 1994, M469 XCR,(Petworth)M472 XCR (Midhurst) and M470 XCR (Storrington). The 4th of the batch M471 XCR (Shoreham & Keymer) was inside the workshops being fitted out. M469 & 470 spent their entire lives at Petworth & Storrington respectively, M472 stayed at Midhurst until becoming a Reserve in January 2007 & M471 was the last MK1 rapier to remain as a 1st appliance due to the small size of Keymers bay.
Just visible is the front of withdrwan Range Rover RT TPO 513M ex Chichester. Don't ask about the caravan!

Hi Danny. There were 4 M reg Dennis Rapiers delivered in 1994. In total West Sussex ordered 12 MK1 Rapiers (J - M reg) and 22 MK2 Rapiers (N - W reg) before Rapier production ceased and 2002 saw 2 Dennis Sabres & 2 Dennis Daggers delivered. 2003 saw the first Scania appliances delivered as part of a 14 appliance order for 2003/2004 - (7 Scania & 7 Dennis Sabres).
