Commer QX 1953/54

This is a 1953/4 Commer QX engine that I have just bought, with Miles bodywork. I would be happy to have any more information about her, it is a Gloucestershire registration "NAD 753".

Hello John,i have this Commer as a water tender at station 13,Cirencester,with a fleet number of 138

Further to my last post,i am reliably informed that this was stationed at Stroud.
I know of some photos,and will try and get hold of them.
I think that this vehicle was owned by a tyre depot in Bristol some years ago.

The QX R Series was an underfloor

T engined forward control 5- & 7-ton trucks with QX cab built by British Light Steel Pressings (BLSP), a Rootes subsidiary company.



he R Series mark I was produced 1948-51, distinguished from the Mk.IIby having only one rear window in the cab, side lights in gaurds, wipers at the bottom of the windscreen, non pressurised screw on radiator cap and a flat open bottom step



The R Mark II was built 1952-54 with three rear windows, side lights in the alloy steps,, wipers mounted on top of the windscreen, a pressurised radiator cap and modified bottom step
