Photographed today, this appliance is now in London E11 - Chris Hall last saw it at the Preston Hall rally in 1984. It looks in reasonable condition.

Yes Petros, this is the same machine as my 1984 picture. How wonderful to see it again. Can you find out it's current status etc?

Chris, this machine appeared on ebay recently. The auction ended on 7.10.09 and there were no bids. You can still look at it if you search for item 180415212872. Hope this helps.

Petros and Chris, you certain this is the same appliance as in picture 18387? The ladder is different although back to front in this shot, and there are no tow hooks on the front in the other snap?

true about the tow hooks. It is clear on my photos about that the 5 has been added to the number plate as the numeral is of a different size. On Chris's photo the index looks like YPT 69. I think it certainly must be same batch if not the same appliance - Ron Henderson's book says that Durham bought 7 Karriers in 1957/8.
I have just taken a call from the new owner and he has some history supplied by the previous owner, so hopefully it will become clearer.

Please can someone give me some information as to the ware about of this engine. I believe it was present at my grandparents wedding in Durham 50 years ago as my granddad was a fireman there. We would love any information anyone has. Thanks

Hi Ian,

no he isnt a relative. Although you aren't the first person to ask me either! He just shares a name, and an interest in Fire Engines.

This machine is currently for sale on the 'carandclassic' site.

This was the last Durham appliance that (at the time) I needed to photograph in order to have the complete fleet, and I caught up with it at a six pump farm fire. It was last stationed at Langley Park.

Hi Amy, I bought YPT695 in March this year & the old girl lives in Suffolk Where i'm restoring her. I got a e mail from a man at Durham Fire Brigade who told me about YPT bein at your grandparents wedding but when I tried to contact him he had just retired. I'm a retired fireman from Northumberland now living in Suffolk. Best Regards Peter Scott.
