ACT Bushfire Service Light Unit (Tanker)- HALL 20 (1997 version)
Cab Chassis: Toyota Landcruiser 75 Series (1988)
Tank Capacity: 600 litres
Pump: Petrol Honda Firefighter (allowing pump and roll capability)
Foam: AFFF Induction System
Crew: 2 or 3
Call Sign: “Hall- Two- Zero”
Call Sign Description: Hall= Brigade Name- Two= Light Unit (Tanker)- Zero = Denotes First of that type in that brigade.
This is typical of the Light Unit (Tanker) used by the Australian Capital Territory Bushfire Service in the 1990s and 2000s. All Light Units from this era were “Toyota White” with 1 red beacon with thin red/yellow/red reflective stripes. This unit is a “Ride-On” version allowing the crew member to operate the pump and fight a running grass fire from the protection of the rear crew areas on either side between the rear wheel and cab.
This is the original “Ride On” aluminium tray, it was conceived by members of the Hall Volunteer Bushfire Brigade and manufactured as a prototype for the ACTBFS by Hall Metal Fabrication.
The Hall Volunteer Bushfire Brigade (as it was called pre 1997) is situated on the N/W border region of the ACT and protects the village of Hall and surrounding farm land.
