Fire Engines Photos

The quarters of Engine Co7/Ladder Co1/Battalion Chief 1 is in a big three door firehouse at 100 Duane Street in lower Manhattan that was opened on the 31st December,1905.Engine Co7 were one of the first units of the then paid Metropolitan Fire Department and when first established back in 1865 were housed in quarters in Chambers Street in lower Manhattan.It was several years,and several moves later though before they moved into their own current quarters(1905).
Engine Co7 currently share this firehouse with Ladder Co1 and the Chiefs of the First Battalion, but also this is the quarters of the Manhattan Borough Command.Over the years,this station has been the home at some point to various FDNY special units,including Water Tower 1,Searchlight 1,Relay Hose Wagon 1,Smoke Ejector & Foamite Truck 1,as well as temporary homes for Ladder Co10,Division 1 and Battalion 2.For many years the NYC Fire Museum was also located here prior to moving several blocks to 278 Spring Street, between Hudson and Varick Street,Engine Company 30's old firehouse.The Museum is still situated in Spring Street and well worth a visit.
Engine Co7's current apparatus is a 2002 Seagrave pumper with the FDNY registration SP02001,which entered service on April 29th,2002 and replaced Eng Co7's 2000 Seagrave pumper(SP00017)which was destroyed on September 11th,2001.Ladder Co1's current apparatus(ST02003)is a 2002 Seagrave JT 75' Aerialscope(Tower Ladder).

Paul,you don't have to thank me,I enjoyed getting out all the old information from years gone by and doing a little research, it helps keep the old brain in shape,just sorry it took me so long in adding some information but it was gathered from many different documents and took a while to go through it all. It wouldn't have been right though not to have added a little bit of information to this picture of yours of a typical period(1905)designed New York City Firehouse. Pete.
