Fire Engines Photos

Chad, probably first time I have seen or heard of a Grumman Firecat, do you know anything about them? Appears the fire house has major structural problems going by the ceiling supports?

Pav; Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, products were also known as the "Grumman Ironworks", as they were so strongly built and reliable.

Started in 1929, by LeRoy Grumman and others: specialized in building things aluminum (UK -aluminium) and produced many aircraft, especially for aircraft carriers, eg WW-2 Grumman Avenger TBM (some became Water-Bombers); Grumman S-2 Tracker (some are still working as Water-Bombers, called, oddly enough, Grumman Firecats) and F-14 Tomcat jet aircraft.

Built aluminum-body Step-Vans used in delivery services, Lunar Modules for moon-landings, even aluminum canoes; and the Grumman Firecat Fire Engine as shown here....would love to learn more about the truck.

1994 absorbed by Northrop Corporation.

Jack-posts - must be an older Fire Hall, as you can see cast-iron plumbing for the second floor....

Station 8 which is pictured above is located in Stockbridge Georgia. According to some pals of mine It used to be on shift with this station will be torn down this year and a new one will be built on the lot behind it. Engine was a good little pumper. Engine was replaced by a retarded looking Ferrara so I hate to see it put off to the side. Tight cab space expecially in the back for me. But overall pumped good and handled well. If you type in Henry County Fire Rescue into the search bar there is a better picture of it outside the bay.
