Hi you can find this appliance on fireflash delta 64 website on the Lancashire Accrington page.There is 2 photos one in service and a close up shot like this.Seemingly it was broken up.

Gotta agree with Bob - and it really does look like a bus (coach)....helped by the bi-fold crew-door.

Has it got its full complement of ladders; and where are the Emergency Lights (beacons) ?

Looking forward to The Bedford Boys filling us in, on this interesting rig.

It was owned by the Steamtown Railway society, so it probably acted as a water bowser for filling up Steam Locomotives.

If you're sad like me and like buses as well as fire engines the bus is a Preston Corporation Leyland PD2/Leyland L46/24F rebuilt by PCT into lowbridge configuration. How about adding Buses to the catalouge the Ed?

Uttoxeter in Staffordshire (UK) used to have an old Bedford water tender that had rear bi-fold doors. I think it was a TK. It was the appliance that first got me interested in Fire engines. The aluminium stucco sides , the wooden ladders, the smell of leather and oil . . . ah, it's all coming back to me now . . .

Bring it on Chris. My ancesteral Home is Preston. My grandfather started on Preston Corpy in 1936 and moved to Manchester corpy in 1947 and my father started on Salford Corpy in 1968. I started in 2001 at Stagecoach and now back home with Arriva. Ahh, PD2's, Daimler CVG6's, Fleetliners, Leyland Atlanteans! what more could a lad want. Settled for Crosvilles finest instead. Anyone else think Crosville's Seddons SPG's EPG's were godlike? SPG 762 was my schoolbus for many a year. Viva la KFM762J

Not many Crosville Drivers or Fitting staff Andy! 100 untried chassis bought instead of precious Bristol RE's.The only good thing to come out of them was the Gardner engines.Which when put into the Leyland National made a decent bus. Give me a Bristol VR though anyday! First turnout driving on a Dennis R (RJC916T) Last Crosville Wales drive on Bristol VR (DVL442). Those were the days!

very rare truck, I would guess a bus body builder ?? as many were built by harrington, park royal even plaxton and a few others

as above this is Busmar who built a number of pump and emergency tenders for Lancashire on Bedford chassis. They were an ambulance builder from Blackpool who started on fire engines in 1963. Warrington FB also bought a multi purpose appliance. This went to Cheshire in 1974.

Lancashire had a few of these appliances.I remember when in the AFS one was in the rear garage at Huyton ready for the new station at Skelmersdale. Some were water tenders others composites. Nothing laft at Steam town now. It is now the home of West Coast Railways who operate steam trains on the main line.
