Are you able to supply a registration number for this lovely machine Bob and also a rough idea of when the photo was taken please?

That's excellent, thanks Bob. I have a few bought photos of this appliance in preservation with and without a Bayley escape as seen in your picture. In one of them she carries the name 'Annabell' in place of the station name.
I see from the DVLA site that she was last taxed in 1992 so may no longer be around.

John you are correct, PYB 781 is an ex Somerset Dennis which was stationed for most of its service in the seaside town of Weston Super Mare before Somerset lost the station to the County of Avon in 1974. I will put a picture on this site of the machine on the run taken by Bristol Bob.

This vehicle is to be sold by auction may as the museum has closed and the exhibits are to be sold by auctioneers Brightwells. See their website for details. Be nice to see it restored and on the rally scene.

The F 12 is in my opinion THE classic British postwar fire engine, and was on a waiting list in the early yeas after it was introduced.

A leading design in those far off days, and such a pity Dennis lost their way, but this miserable piece of history has been well documented already on this site and elsewhere.

I do hope this example was preserved...
