An early light rescue van, equipped to extricate victims of road accidents. These are still widespread in France, as the concept of a combination pumper and rescue truck is relatively new there. As in Belgium, the focus was on a relatively fast medium van type of unit with a two or three person crew, but more recent road rescue trucks are larger, built on 7.5 or 10.0 tonne chassis. Heavy rescue trucks are comparatively rare.
