This Leyland appliance I believe was kept at Preston Hall Museum Stockton, but not on display. It is now at Bowmans Transport Museum in Shildon County Durham, which is open every Saturday and Sunday. Sadly it does not run at the minute due to a broken sump, which was away for repair

This Leyland's from 1939,its a Leyland FK9 and was delivered new to the Thornaby on Tees Metropolitan Fire Brigade in March of 1939.

Was this ever assigned to Redcar? The first fire engine I ever sat in (in 1952) looked a great deal like this one: closed cab, no doors, huge almost vertical black steering wheel, big bell hung on the A pillar, center mounted pump and red leather seats. I was only seven, so I don't remember much more, but this picture "rang a bell" for me in more ways than one!

You're not far off Rob as Redcar took delivery of an identical machine. It is still alive in a museum in Holland. I saw it at Guisborough in 1968.

This engine is now at the North East Sea Land and Air Museum
