In addition to Berliet and Citroen, Saviem supplied quite a few fire appliance chassis to French fire services between the firm’s foundation in 1955 and its absorption into RVI in 1978, with the brand name disappearing in 1980. Between 1963 and 1977 the firm collaborated with MAN and shared some engines, chassis components and cabs, but could not achieve sufficient volume of sales to survive on its own feet. Although full crew cabs were quite common on TTLs in France when this unit was built, it was normal for them to respond with only two crew members, just like in many other European countries.
