Good looking photo. I like the yellow matching surfboard for beach rescue. Is this rig a spare and what is the year of manufacture????

Is the surf board really used for rescue or is it mostly for show? I'm from Colorado so this is really alien to me! :-)

Added by FF Wayne Yanish on 28 October 2005.
I spoke with the guys from Honolulo Fire Dept, they say that the surf board is for real and they do surf rescue after 5 pm until 9 am when the County Life Guards are off duty, they also have jet ski's and a fire boat in the harbour.

This is a 1992 100foot Seagrave Tiller and was still running as L7 the last time I visited Hawaii, although Station 7 Waikiki, had just got a new pumper [P7] this was a 2000/1 Pierce Quantam

I was in Waikiki this past April and visited Hall 1 in PAWA'A as well as Hall 7 in Waikiki Beach, both stations have ladder trucks and both have Surf Boards for after hours water rescues. It was strange to see them roaring past you going to a call with the surf board attached.

Added by Scott on 09 May 2007.
Does anyone know where to get a toy version of this truck or one similar?

Scott, It has a red light bar, the lighting when I took the picture was very bright and it tended to make the red lens cover look amber.

Great rig.

The chill of winter is starting to set in here - boy, does a job onboard this Aerial ever look good.......

Bet the Crew Cab has the needed Air Conditioning for those warm temperatures....

Ah well, back to the winter fire-wood pile.

Regards, from Canada,

I was in Waikiki in March of 2012 and I saw this truck drive past. It must still be operational.
Station 7 now operates a Quantum tiller, which also carries a surfboard.
