Picture of Merryweather Turntable Ladder

This Merryweather TL was new to Barking Fire Brigade later served in London and ended with the works fire brigade of Greene-King Brewery. Fully restored and displayed at the Commercial Vehicle Museum at Leyland (part of what was Leyland Motors works)It originally had a Meadows petrol engine but was subsequently fitted with a Rolls Royce B80 motor.
Unusually for a TL the appliance has a pump and hose reel fitted.

I like this picture Barry, thanks for sharing it with us.The appliance dates from 1938 and it served all its operational life at Alfreds Way Fire Station in Barking,Essex until going out of service in 1971 and then sold to the Westgate Brewery. The ladder was a 5 section 100ft.
The pump/hosereel configuration was actually quiet common in Merryweather Turntables,between 1930 and 1938 of the 25 built-twenty had a pump fitted.Again,great picture,thanks-Pete.

This great rig would be on its way, to be considered a "Quad" over here; Pump, Hose, Booster Tank(and Reel), Aerial.

Just missing the Ground Ladders to make "Quint"...ARP/CARP....won't debate that red-hot topic here, though !!

She must have quite a record of service; those years of World War Two especially; great example of good, practical, design and engineering.

Good to see her safely preserved - for us to be re-assured of good fire-engineering; after gazing upon some of the latest "Wonderful Designs"......

Anyone know what size tank it had for the hosereel system? By the look of it, it must have been very small. Maybe 20 to 40 gallons?
