Fire Engines Photos

1973 Dennis F49/Dennis Water Tender Ladder-the registration being DPX 636L that was new to Worthing(West Sussex Fire Brigade)Fire Station.
Jacques,its nice to see a picture from the old WSFB to which I was part of many years ago.Did you actually take many pictures during your visit to the UK,and especially West Sussex?.

Sorry,I think this may be a Dennis'D'Series having looked at my photo's.The F49's had a larger front locker,and the cab roof went further back over that locker.
I thought I'd get in quick before someone picks me up on my mistake.

Hi Pete, i stayed near Broadwater many summers with a family, learning english in the 80'. I visited the FS many times. I was that time in touch with a fireman named John C.

I just purchased my scanner on August 23, patience is needed.

Really sorry"Pete" the appliance in question is a Dennis D series belonging to Brigade Training Centre at 01 Worthing. This is an early D pre 1974 from the N Plate onwards the rear eyeline was revised. This appliance is a 1973 Dennis index CBP 86L-EX Arundel also Storrington will be in touch soon.

Lovely Picture - Thanks for identifying it Bob, could have been one of several D series applainces. Photographed in the training centre spare garages at the rear of Worthing drill yard, which were converted to classrooms in the early 1990s leaving only one bay for the training centre appliances leaving all other reserve and driving training appliances to spend their time in the open air exposed to the elements. Well done Bob for recognising this'D'Series,I have a list of several of the appliances that went to training around the early to mid 80's, but just on looking could'nt have known which one this was.At least I corrected myself and said it was a'D'Series,not an F49.Look forward to hearing from you again soon.
Jon,talking about leaving appliances outside to the elements,at a show I attended just last week I saw one of our old Dennis/Carmichael WTR's,just 20years old in a field and looking real sad.It was up for sale but in a terrible condition and the present owner had just left it to rot.It was such a shame to see a great little machine like they were,just go to waste.Pete.

Hi Pete, knowing that you always come up trumps with photo requests. Have you any of the West Sussex Dennis F44's? My absolute all time favourite machine (sparked by the Roger Pennington postcard sold on behalf of FSNBF). For me West Sussex appear to get their livery's and specifications spot on to create perfect looking appliances (especially when it's a Dennis) and the F44's was a fine example
