Somerset had three different types of the Dodge K series. The first batch were delivered in 1976 and had Carmichael bodies with the seats in the back facing the rear of the vehicle. The second batch of three were delivered in 1978 and had HCB Angus bodies (as shown above)which were stationed at Glastonbury and Wiveliscombe. The third and final batch of three had CFE (Cheshire Fire Engineering) bodies and were stationed at Wells and Porlock. The Two Dodges at Williton were both P regs with Carmichael bodies. These Dodges were lovely machines with a unique sound. Its a shame that none were preserved and the majority were shipped abroad to Romania. Although at the Blandford steam fayre last year I did see the P reg Dodge that was stationed at Ilminster however it now has living accommodation in the back and the pump removed.

As far as I know there are still three ex Somerset Dodges still around, two of the P reg ones which is I think are PYC761P and PYC 763P and also RYD966R.

I saw PYC761P today at St Martins on the North Wales/Shropshire border. This has living accom but still retains its side/rear lockers. Bodywork is built up above ladder well.

Gary are you sure it wasn't PYC763P that was sold on e bay recently and is converted as you have described.
