Hello John, this Steyr is used for forest fires and now replaced by a new Fire Vehicle look my picture 18038. In summer of 2007 3 fire fighters were killed by fire in Artemida with a Steyr 680.

Its sad when firefighters die Ilias, I saw the fires on the news at the time. Is the new machine better than the Steyr?

This Steyr is used since 1984 first from forestal service and after from Greek Fire service(1998) it was very good vehicle but now is old vehicle with many problems.The Steyr in picture has speed 55 km/h.The Iveco is great fire vehicle with nice climbing ability,speed, many tools and good water tankage but it's very tall vehicle and you must pay attention when you drive...John i will send you more pictures from Steyr.
