Is this appliance ok as i heard in a previous post they had problems with it or one very similar, please keep us updated !

We have taken delivery of one of these Mercs at our fire station. Goes like the clappers but only has a very small fuel tank about 120ltr max. We seem to fill her up every two days! Is this apliance the same?

Interesting, seeing the ladders in a horizontal stowage - not slightly tilted aft.

Do they slide out rear-wards, on a "gantry beam" ?

It doesn't look like anyone is allowed on top of this machine - eg no side-ladders or foot-holds....

When are the MANS going on the run? I've heard Abegele retained are getting a Mercedes as a pass down?

In wrexham station they have two MANS on the run at the moment anyone know why?

They have 2 running as the Wholetime 1st and 2nd away pumps,though one was originally a temporary allocation. The Merc Atege/TVAC pumps were allocated in a pair(DK57CRU/Z).This was the first time in recent history that 2 appliances of the same batch had been allocated from new to Wrexham.One seems very unreliable as Spare E799VWM Volvo/Fulton&Wylie (Ex Chirk) seems to cover very often.

Hi,
Thats me standing by the appliance (with hand in pocket !!) I was driver that day and this photo was taken during a school visit.
Yes both Wrexham's Merc's have now been replaced by new MAN's (I'm not sure where the Merc's have been stationed)
The 13.5 ladder is on a powered gantry but the 9 metre& short extension ladders are on pull down gantries.
The 'box style' back of the appliance is apparently a new 'All Wales' style of appliance.

I think that one Mercedes has been stationed in Johnstown station. I saw one responding the other week.

Johnstown are running DK57CRV. Blaenau Ffestiniog are running DK57CRU, Cerrigydrudion are running DK57CRJ and Abergele are running DK57CRZ. DK57CRX from Dolgellau is as yet unallocated to my knowledge as is Volvo FL6H.14.250/Saxon PN02KAO.

Mark - these look very "London-ish", but the cab seems extra long. Do they carry some extra kit in there?
