1943 Fordson War Office Type 2H ATV.

This is a Fordson 2H Auxiliary Towing Vehicle(ATV)from 1943 and was built to Home Office specifications for the war effort.Auxiliary Towing Vehicles of this type were built in large numbers, like the Austin K2 ATV's and were used by both the military and also the NFS(National Fire Service)during the second world war.
This vehicle was found up to its axles in mud on a farm where it had been forgotten for 23 years and then underwent some three years of restoration to bring it back to its original condition.
I photographed this Fordson back in 1993 at the Duxford Fire Engine Rally, and after all these years its still doing the rallies today thanks to the dedication of the present owner.

Spotted a few of these, cut down and used as personnel carriers by the Royal Ulster Constabulary during the 1950's, in a documentary on the "troubles".
