Somerset Bedford VYB73W

This appliance was one of three delivered to Somerset Fire Brigade with HCB Angus bodies. This appliance was issued to the retained station at Martock. Whilst still young in service it was rolled on its way to a shout and because Somerset now had a contract with Saxon rather than HCB Angus it was sent to Saxon for rebuilding and obviously came back looking different to its sister appliances.

I thought this one was different and my friends at School in the early 90s were right about it being rolled! 73 is still around somewhere and went to Wincanton after rebuilding, its the only ex Somerset TK Saxon remaining, the others were exported or are now long gone, sad as they were lovely appliances.
