Thankyou for this Roger, I am sure I am not alone in feeling sadness at their disposal. This fleet will go on though, as other contributors have shown, firefighting all over the world as only a GG can.

It's like Willy Wonkas Factory for the fire buff. I used to drive past this place every day when I lived near there and always wondered what it was inside (I never thought at the time they would disband the reserve so soon after - so didn't see the urgency to try and get a look in, hindsights a great thing). In fact I knew that the threat of the last strike was being taken seriously when low loaders turned up and they suddenly started to bring them out. As much as I love the GG's, imagine if Dennis had secured the contract ...

I did once visit one of these Goddess warehouses, near London, but long before they were fitted with blue beacons and air horns.

It turned out to be rather disappointing. This was not a box of chocolates - which has different flavors - but a box of cookies. Each one identical to all the others!

Once you have seen a Green Goddess (and I had) you have seen them all - unless you think the 4X4 and the original edition are really all that different...
