I drive this GG from the Home Office store at Leeds when Teesside bought it. The appliance was converted into a Rescue Tender with the rear crew seats partially removed for BA. After it was decommisioned it stood in the corner of the MT yard for a few years and its condition deteriorated.....I imagine it ended in the great fire station in the sky.
Barry I havnt heard of this one since disposal, our own Goddess at Leeds caused a laugh in 1980. We had a Cessna crash about 3 miles away and all the machines except the 101 Landie had to stay on the road as the gate to the field was too narrow, until the greenie turned up with a plough on the front bracket, the duty crew bloke driving it got in the field, demolishing ten feet of stone wall as he did it!
This certainly did survive into preservation, as it was purchased and fully restored back to AFS spec by the late great John Pamenter, inc the missing seats in the 1990 well before the 4X4 fleet was disposed of by the government, sadly sold last I heard it was on the East coast ?
