Typical of its era, this light pumper has a mid mounted pump, with an (uncomfortable) crew seat on top of it, side hung suctions, an overhead ladder gantry and two one-man hose carts in the rear compartment.
Its easy to see how this layout morphed over time into the configuration we typically see today on most Japanese pumps.
Fortunately, the uniform all-red paintwork has not changed, but the gold coachlines are now sadly pretty much a thing of the past...
