Thank, John- it's a pleasure- I remember seeing it (or its sister) in the service of a local demolition company (DJ Broady?) in the early 70's as a kid. It had their green, white and orange livery.
I have just noticed that this appliance has a John Morris ladder but with Merryweather carriage wheels- I think I know the explanation. My late grandfather, who was an officer in the Hull brigade, recalled an incident where he asked the driver to move the pump escape while at a fire. This he duly did but forgot to check behind as he reversed it. He "put the escape wheels through the windscreen" of the appliance behind it! I suspect that ladder was repaired in the brigade workshops and a set of Merryweather wheels (and lower carriage frame) were fitted. I'd love to know if anyone recalls the incident. By the way, the driver in question later went on to achieve significant rank in the brigade!!
