Bedford/HCB Angus WrT. North Yorkshire Fire Brigade. This is one of my archive photos taken in the early 1980’s at Summerbridge Training School. I believe this appliance was originally fitted with a 50ft wheeled escape ladder, but I could be wrong!

Those headlamps look unusual, are they a later addition?

The headlamps are standard fittings on the Bedford KM series cab/chassis which I believe was used for this appliance.

Gents, I think this was inherited from the North Riding fleet in 1974 on local Government boundary changes and it had a 50 foot wheeled escape.

This is a rare KM chassis fire appliance

count the wheel nuts.10 = 16 ton chassiss never a TK they only ever had 8 or 6 for the baby ones its an early KM.

Did the fact that it was a 16 ton chassis mean that it had a more powerful engine than the lighter TK versions?
